To improve security of online data current security systems should be automated. Currently, successful cyber attacks cost society billions of euros each year. Risk management to prevent these cyber attacks is still done manually. Attacks can only be identified and prevented if people can foresee them. This process is too slow and is limited by human imaginative capabilities.
Wolter Pieters, assistant professor at Delft University of Technology and member of a European research team, is developing the automatic security system TREsPASS. With TREsPASS, security risks are analyzed preemptively. This helps to identify which attacks are possible and most pressing, and which countermeasures will be the most effective.
